Introduction into Early Intervention Work
Building Strong Emotional Wellbeing in Children and Young People
As we grow and develop, our everyday life experiences and pressures naturally affect how we feel and behave. Family life and changes, friendships, relationships, our sense of identity and school experiences can all potentially lead to a variety of emotionally based issues such as anxiety, low mood, anger, or low self-esteem.
It is now widely understood that having support for emerging emotional and mental health conditions earlier in life can greatly reduce problems in our adult life. By sharing and exploring these issues – using a variety of approaches to suit the individual – life can be managed to create a happier and more fulfilled experience.
Children and young people need to feel safe, respected, and comfortable in their environment for help to be effective. I have a relaxed approach and always adapt my work to suit a child or young person’s needs. Having had more than twenty years’ experience working in different projects and environments, I am fully aware that this is of the greatest importance if they are going to engage and to feel comfortable working through their issues.
I help my clients gain an understanding as to why they feel as they do and support them to develop strategies for improving how they feel about themselves and for managing their challenges and their future goals. Should I detect the possibility of any specific mental health condition, I can help refer on for appropriate service support.
